Hi mommies these are my top 5 ways to get my lovely twins to sleep. I love my twins with all my heart and soul, but man do they put up a fight with me during bedtime or naptime! They do not I repeat do not like to sleep or at least the process of getting them to sleep.
Ahhh why can’t they be like my 4 year daughter when she was a baby. She would sleep the whole night, she did not put up a fight with me, well sometimes who am I kidding? but still it was a smooth transition. She even took two naps a day for 2hours!!, oh well I have to suck it up and realize I can’t have the cake and eat it too.
I did find 5 ways to get them to sleep easier, I found that these techniques worked best for my twins and me, so here they are..
Top 5 Proven baby sleep tips that you should know about:
(1) TAKE BABY A BATH
YEP, simple as this, I find that when I take my babies a bath before I try to sleep them, they for the most part fall asleep right away. I mean who wouldn’t? A nice bubble bath, then lotion on their cute baby bodies and then massage it. Put on nice and clean clothes, I mean should I go on? no need you get the point and of course I give them their bottles right after their bath knocks them out most of the time!
(2) FEED THEM
YES ma’am, feed feed and feed those tummies!! I like to give the twins their baby food or homemade baby food that I usually do before they go to sleep. Why? well because they get the itis don’t they? I’d like to think they do because they fall asleep right after they have a full tummy. When babies tummy is full they are happy, they don’t cry and most importantly they get tired and sleepy. I like to feed them their baby food first and then let them digest it and then I like to give them their bottles! It just tops it off and badabin badaboom my wonderful babies are sleeping…isn’t life amazing?
(3) Go on walks
Wow is this an excellent tip! when it is warm outside I like to take them out even if it is a struggle for me to put the twins in their stroller and get everything ready, once I am set I am good to go. I take my four year old to the park or anywhere really the point is for you to have some fresh air and exercise your legs a little bit. It is very calm and relaxing for my twins to feel the wind and just see nature at its best. So I walk a little extra so they can get a little tired. I am a mom with a mission and that is to get my twins to sleep so I can relax a little. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.Well let me tell you that I really do not know what it is about babies in general when they are in a car or stroller that they fall asleep right away. I believe is the movement that it makes, so just take advantage of it get in the car and drive or just get your stroller and walk, have fun, enjoy the scenery with your kids and just watch as they fall asleep!
(4) LET THEM CRY!
Okay okay! I know what you are thinking, ” oh my goodness what kind of mother leaves their kids crying? is not as horrible as you may think I promise!
So yeah I sometimes let them cry just a little bit than usual, I mean it does not hurt them and besides I like to think they are exercising their vocal cords. I let them cry for about 5 minutes or so is not that bad even the doctors say is ok, it gets them tired believe me! Sometimes they cry because well they just want to cry for no reason so while the five minutes are passing by I can prepare their milk, I can tell my 4 year old daughter to stop jumping on the couch and so on. Once I pick them up from their high chairs (one at a time) and feed them, they do fall asleep faster, they are already sleeping by the time they finish their milk (other twin usually stops crying and starts playing in the cradle where they usually are!…told you they sometimes cry just to cry) Then onto the next twin and boom sleeping! wow crying is healthy and helpful who would have thought!
(5) PLAY WITH THEM!
Last but not least I love to play with my three children and get them active, it gives us a special bond you know. I let my twins crawl all over the house, they play with their older sister and she is a tremendous help. Letting the babies play is a very simple and obvious approach but very effective. If your baby does not crawl yet I am very sure you have other ways or toys to play with your baby, is all about imagination. The point is to make it fun for them and by that I mean get them tired, play play play and you will see how they start rubbing their eyes or even cry and that is your cue my friend to feed them and rock them until they fall asleep.
The key here is to make your baby tired, when babies are tired they are most likely to fall asleep, even for us grown ups when we are tired all we want to do is sleep. I don’t know
