I was looking back at some of my early posts and I thought you might like to read this one and relate to it. So I just polished it a little bit and here it is.
Hi mommies, I thought I will share what my 4year old daughter Jamely said to me while we were In the store.
I am pretty sure every mommy experienced this kind of things as well!
We were going to Walgreens because she wanted to buy a toy from there and she kept asking my father for money, and guess what of course he can’t say no to his granddaughter so he gave her the money to buy her toy( Singh*** grandparents!)
As we were walking outside the house I saw my little sister walking to go home, so I decided to wait for her to see if she wanted to go with us. Well my daughter started running towards her and my sister started running to my daughter, needless to say it was a Baywatch dejavu! They hugged and walked to me while I was in utter disbelief of what I just witnessed, so I asked if she wanted to go with us and she said yes, so we went to Walgreens.
We were in the toy isle when a little girl I would say about my daughter’s age asked her mother for a toy and her mother said no and to put the toy back where it belongs. Well this little girl did not listen to her mother and she just went somewhere else with the toy, leaving her mother standing there.
This is where my daughter decided to put her two cents into this situation. She just turn her head to look at me with a shocked face and said very loudly( the mother of the little girl was still there!) ” Mami that girl wanted a toy, her mom said no and she didn’t listen….that’s bad that is really really bad!”. Yep she did go there!
I mean I did not even answer my daughter, actually I just pretended I didn’t hear her… actually I wanted to pretend I did not hear her but obviously I heard what she said, the mother heard what she said, my sister heard what she said and I am pretty sure even the cashier heard what she said!( mind you, the cashier is very far from where we were).
This is those moments where you just want to disappear and pretend this is not your child. I really did not know what to say, I mean I couldn’t say oh yes honey that is bad because who am I to judge this mother or her child( I mean I do judge sometimes let’s be real!) but I preferred not to say a word, I just blurted out ” okay Jamely”.
What kind of answer was this, oh well it just came out of my mouth like nobody’s business and I stuck with that. The mother just left from the isle without saying a word, but I knew she probably felt bad that a little girl( my daughter) knew what happened and knew that her daughter was wrong for not listening. But is just one of those replies that your mouth just stays opened like my little sister and I were after hearing what my daughter just said.
I mean in my mind I was just thinking what is she talking about she does not listen to me half the time geesssh! but of course I was not about to say that and ruin the wonderful assumption that this women probably had about my daughter. This women must have been thinking that my little girl listens to me! this is a mother’s dream or even father’s dream. So I just kept on shopping and nodded my head but the fact that she said this just reassured me that kids do say the darndest things!
*** What are your “kids say the darndest things” moments?***
I’ve been named lifeguard poopy pants by the kids WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO
ha ha…kids have no filter do they?…
Hahaha I did some of those things to my mum too, now I see! That was funny, Ros! I hope your daughter listens to you more from now on since she’s an example of good behaviour in front of other kids 😀
Haha I think we all had done things like that when little. I know Lily, she should always listen to me, but not happening.
