“Rudolf the red nose reindeer, had a very shiny nose, and if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows”, I love Christmas songs and Rudolf the red nose reindeer is one of my favorites. Did you know that in third grade I played Rudolf the reindeer, while everyone else in my class were just regular old reindeers, haha! Thanks teacher for making me feel and look special with my little red nose, while singing away in our class assembly. The good old days.
Since Christmas day is literally around the corner and shopping is on everyone’s mind, I wanted to share with you my 5 ways to save money on your Christmas shopping. I think everyone can use a few tips and ways to save money, since we will be doing a lot of shopping this month. I love to go out and shop till I drop, but since my hubby and I are in a budget and can’t go crazy with the shopping. I have come to terms that some things have to be done. I have to SAVE on everything that I buy, I need to and have to.
I love the Christmas air that fills New York City streets, people walking drinking their coffee’s while laughing and shopping, all of the Christmas lights and songs, it’s just my kind of shopping day. My sisters and I have a tradition where we always go Christmas shopping together, we hit up the stores, talk, laugh and eat. It is so much fun and I always look forward to that every year. I usually leave the kids behind at my parents house because who likes to shop with their kids? I honestly do not, like let me live and let me breathe while I see my money going down the drain.
Anyways, so I really hope these 5 tips can help you save money on your Christmas shopping and happy shopping my friend!
5 ways to save money on your Christmas shopping:
1.Leave kids at home- If you really want to save money, you must leave your kids at home. Let your hubby handle them for a few hours, or leave them at their grandparents. you know kids love being at their grandparents house, I wonder why ;). If you take your kids Christmas shopping with you, not only will it be stressful but you will end up spending more money. Kids know what they like and they will voice it out, they will tell you that they want this and that and being on the Christmas spirits we might just buy them that $100 toy. just leave them at home and they will be happy with the toy you get them for Christmas no matter the price tag.
2. Do not buy gifts for everyone- this might sound harsh or maybe not, but you do not have to purchase Christmas gifts for everyone that you know. Yes it would be nice but if you do not have the money, why stress out and spend more than you have? Focus on your kids and hubby first, niece or nephews, parents, and siblings and if you have money left to spend, buy who ever else you think is worth buying to. We are in an era where saving money is a priority and people will totally understand that, I hope. Again, prioritize on who you will be buying gifts for and save money!
3. Sale- Everytime I go to a store I go straight to the sale items, why? because you can get great gifts and save money at the same time. Just because you buy something on the sale rack it doesn’t mean it’s not of good quality or is a bad gift. I love to buy sale items for myself, so I think it’s a great choice and great way to save some bucks.
4. Target’s dollar spot- Even though it’s now $1, $3 and $5 dollar items, I think it’s great if you want to make like a cute gift basket. You can purchase very affordable items for kids and adults. Who doesn’t love a good gift basket full of fun things to play with or use, depending on who you will be giving the gift basket to.
5. Shop online- There are a lot of great deals if you shop online, from coupons to member discounts that you can take advantage on. Also, if you buy in bundles you can checkout with a great savings deal. I love to receive packages by mail, even though I paid for it myself there is something about that UPS truck that gets me happy and excited, anyone else? Also shopping online can be stress free if you do not like to wait on long lines at the store.
I hope you can find these 5 ways very helpful and you can save money on your shopping!
