Pregnant? You may start to notice a few changes not only about how you feel, your hormones but also changes on your body! Pregnancy changes a lot of things. Here's the full list of surprising ways your body changes during pregnancy!

Oh how our bodies changes during pregnancy *sighs*. It’s inevitable to try to avoid these changes because it’s part of the pregnancy process. The fact that your body is making room for your baby to grow is amazing. Since you are growing a little human inside of you, there are bound to be some changes in your body that are very noticeable to you. Don’t worry most of these changes only happen during your pregnancy and will go away after you give birth.

I have to say that I experienced most of these changes with both of my pregnancies and it’s really not that bad. I knew some of these were going to happen because I’ve seen some of my family members go through it and so I sort of knew that I was most likely going to experience them as well. I would ask my mom and aunts if some of these changes were normal  when I was pregnant for the first time because I didn’t know what to expect and I was a paranoid crazy person ,haha!

Anyways pregnant friend, I have gathered a list of 14 ways your body changes during pregnancy because I want you to know what to expect when you’re expecting (no pun intended, haha!). Also, because I went through almost all of these changes and I’m here to tell you it’s not the worst thing in the world. It’s part of our pregnancy experience and we can bond and talk about what body changes we went through. I hope you can enjoy this list and if you have pregnant friends, share it with them!

14 ways your body changes during pregnancy

1. Linea negra

The Linea negra is a vertical line that appears on your belly during most of your pregnancy. It usually “disappears” after giving birth and is experienced mostly by Latina and African American women. (I experienced this with both of my pregnancies)

2. Sensitive gums

During pregnancy you will experience swollen and sensitive gums, this may cause bleeding when brushing your teeth. This is caused by hormonal changes in your body.

3. Skin darkening

This is also most commonly experienced by women of darker complexion and it’s due to hormonal changes. (I experienced this with my twin pregnancy)

4. Bigger boobs

Your breast may increase in size during your pregnancy and this is due to hormonal changes in your body. (I unfortunately didn’t experience this, *crying face*)

5. Bigger butt

Just like you may see a size increase with your boobs, you may also experience a bigger butt during your pregnancy, or wider hips as well. (I experienced this and am very happy, haha!)

6. Changes in foot size

Did you know you can go up by half a shoe size during your pregnancy? I did! It’s crazy but it does happen.

7.  Wider nose

You may notice that your nose is bigger or wider than usual and this is caused by higher estrogen levels (via. WebMD). This usually happens during your second and third trimester.

8. Swollen face, feet and hands

Your face, hands and feet may become swollen due to an increase in blood and body fluids in your body, this is called edema.

Please note:

If you experience extreme swelling in the face, feet and hands. Please seek medical help as this could be caused by Preeclampsia.

9. Belly button pops out

Your belly button may pop out during your pregnancy and this is caused my your expanding uterus. It happened to me during both of my pregnancies!

10. Areola changes

Your areola may become bigger and darker during your pregnancy due to hormonal changes in your body.

11. Hands may get bigger

You may experience swollen hands and a change in size as well. You may want to change your wedding ring size because your ring size may go up half a size, mine did.

12. Stretch marks

Developing stretch marks during pregnancy is very common. There are different products that help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and these two helped with mine.

13. Shinier and longer hair

You may notice that your hair is much fuller and looks healthier than usual. This is due to hormonal changes in your body due to pregnancy. Enjoy it and flaunt it! You can read more about hair and nail changes during pregnancy here.

14. The “glow”

Oh that pregnancy glow that everyone keeps talking about and telling you that you have. Isn’t it amazing that all of a sudden you have that “glow” where your skin looks flawless and you have that sparkle in your eyes? I certainly felt amazing during both of my pregnancies and people mentioned that I had the “glow” so that was exciting.

There you have it mama, 14 changes that your body goes through during pregnancy. It’s amazing how much our body changes while our baby is “cooking” inside of us. It’s such a magical experience and know that these changes or most of them are not permanently and that you will be back to normal once your baby is born.

Please let me know which of these body changes you experienced when you were pregnant or are experiencing right now during your pregnancy!
