Let me just share one of my many tricks to keeping my house feeling and looking clean. The new Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance, which you can easily find at Walmart.(I mean who doesn’t shop at Walmart?) These fragrances are infused with essential oils, and are masterfully crafted fragrances. Right after I am done cleaning, the first thing I do is spray my house with one of their premium fragrance mists because it just sets the mood in every room of my house. And, I spray my favorite ones which are the No.2 Bright™ fragrance and the No.4 Tempted™ fragrance to help make my home a reflection of me and my style.

That’s why I like to break things up and clean as I go. I to concentrate on one room of the house or one day and then the next day I can devote my time to a different room of the house. It’s all about finding out what routine works best for you, but I’m here to help you with that!
I hope you can find these simple tips to keeping your house clean even with kids helpful.
7 ways to keep your house clean even with kids
1.Involve your kids
One way to keep your house clean is to encourage your children to help you with the house chores. I am a firm believer in having my kids pick up after themselves. So, this can be an easy task that you can start your kids with. Once they are done playing a game, you can simply ask them to put it away before grabbing a different toy to play with. This will teach your child responsibility and it will also help them to keep their house clutter free.
You can create a simple schedule of what house chores you want your child to do for the day. It can be to wipe the tables, clean the windows or make their bed.
2.Have a toy basket
A great way to keep your house toy clutter free, is to have a toy basket. You can put it in a corner of your living room. Add only the toys your kids are constantly playing with. Once they are done playing, they can easily place their toys in the basket. This tip has helped me so much in keeping my house clean. It’s also perfect for when uninvited and unannounced visitors come over. You just simply throw all the toys there, and have a clean looking house within minutes, haha!
3.Smell matters (Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Fragrance Mist is the answer!)
Smell is a big part of having your house feel fresh. Glade® fragrances are the perfect fragrance mist for that. It’s the perfect touch to add to your house after cleaning it. I use it every day even though I don’t clean everyday. I just like my house to smell good for me and my family. I am currently loving these three fragrances- I use one mist for the bathroom, one for my living room and the other for the bedrooms. I love having different smells in different rooms of my house.
My 3 favorite ones with a quick description of the smell:
- No.2 Bright™ fragrance has a touch of ripe raspberries and orchard fruit notes mingle with jasmine, rose and sweet pea over a pillowy bed of powder musk, sweet tonka bean and sheer blonde woods scents.
- No.3 Free™ fragrance has notes of white pineapple, citrus and beachside florals swirl through layers of coconut, beach woods and vanilla bean scents. My favorite!
- No.4 Tempted™ fragrance has hints of warm, exotic spices with freesia and golden amber. Vanilla orchid notes deepen the captivating blend along with scents of fresh eucalyptus, cedarwood, patchouli and brown sugar.
6.Deep clean
Taking some time out of your busy schedule to deep clean your house is important. What’s more important is to not overdo it or go crazy with it. Take one room of the house at a time. You can deep clean the bathroom on Saturday and then deep clean your living room the Saturday after that. It’s all about balance and deciding which room needs your attention first.
Don’t you feel like a rockstar right after you have deep cleaned a room of your house? I love that feeling!
5.Have a designated play space
Don’t just let your kids rule your entire house with their toys (been there) but actually assign them a room of the house for them to play in. This makes it so much easier for you to clean up and it also helps you keep your house clutter free. A bonus from this awesome tip is that you won’t be falling face first from a toy that you have accidentally stepped on because it was laying around. Your kids will know exactly where they can play and this helps their toys not be all over the house.
Having a designated play area also helps when you have visitors over and they have kids. The kids will not be playing on top of the adults or taking over the entire living room, they will have a designated area (within the living room) to play in.
6.Declutter
Declutter without feeling bad about it, do it like you mean it. Sort all your children’s toys and if they have not played with it for a while, either donate it or throw it out in the garbage (if the toys are damaged or missing parts). This step will help you keep your house clean and clutter free. You can even go the extra mile and declutter your clothes, kitchen, basement and everything that you may think needs extra evaluation of whether you need it or not.
Make it a family event and have your kids and partner help you. You can agree on the day and time you want your decluttering to take place and go from there. You will definitely feel like a weight has lifted off of your shoulders. It feels good!
7.Make it a habit
In order for you to keep your house clean even when you have kids, is to make it a habit to keep it clean. Yes, I know that not every day your house is going to look spotless (let’s be real here) but your house can indeed look, feel and smell clean most of the time. The more you are determined to make it happen, the easier it will get for you to actually keep your house clean. It’s all about having a good routine that works for you and your family.
One of the ways I keep my kitchen clean is by cleaning as I go. If I am cooking, the minute that I am done using a bowl or something like that, I clean it immediately. I do not wait for my kitchen sink to be full of dirty dishes because I will literally stress. Even though I’m guilty of having a sink full of dirty dishes, I’m happy to say that it’s rarely!
Quick recap:
Keeping your house clean even with kids is possible even though it may seem that it’s not. It only takes a few smart little tricks to get it done. Having your kids help you is a huge way to keeping your house clean and clutter free. Another way is to have a designated play area and a toy basket. This will keep your kids toys from ruling your entire house (it can happen). Don’t you want your house to smell clean? One of my secret weapons are the Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Fragrance Mist products. I love how easy it is to use, you simply pray up and sweep side to side. It is a continuous spray. You can find them at Walmart!
Having a declutter family day is a great way to help you get rid of stuff in the house that you and your family do not need. Donate it, give it away to your family and friends or throw it out in the garbage. Make sure that you have a habit of wanting to keep your house clean and act on it. You can certainly clean as you on when you’re cooking because this has helped me a lot. Ask your family for help and do not over do it.
