Congratulations mama on having twins, how exciting! When my hubby and I first found out we were having twins (5 years ago) we were completely shocked. Never in a million years did we ever think we were going to be parents of twins! Even though it runs in my mother’s side of the family. I was also super excited and blessed that I was having twins. We already had a 3 year old baby girl and so I knew it wasn’t going to be walk in the park bringing home twins.
Everything was new to me and so I had to learn as I went and even though it was very difficult in the beginning, it was manageable. And no, you won’t loose your mind in the mix. I have to say that purchasing the products I’m going to mention down below, really helped me survive the first year with my twins. It made my life so much easier and it also made taking care of them so much easier as well.
Even though I had a lot of help from my family after I got home with the twins, I knew I would eventually be alone taking care of them. It was scary let me tell you, but my first born daughter helped me a lot. Anyways mama, I’m here to share with you the 10 baby items that helped me survive the first year with twins. I hope you find it helpful!

1.Graco Pack -n- PlayÂ
I loved this pack -n- play playard because it’s colorful and it’s so easy to set up. There’s no fuss about it and my twins loved being in there. It’s spacious which was perfect for my twins. It also has a few fun built in “toys” like a mirror, squishy animal and more! I would sometimes have my twins take their naps there while I silently cooked or played with my oldest child. Having a pack -n- play is super helpful in surviving the first year with twins.
2. Twin stroller
There’s no way you can survive the first year with twins, without a twin stroller. You need it, even though it looks like a truck and you feel like you’re going to run people over with it. It’s a twin mom must have. I loved my twin stroller because I used it up until my twins turned 4 years old. It was very sturdy and perfect for my kiddos. There are a lot of different twin strollers, so make sure that you do your research and pick the one that you love! I had this one (in green) and recommend it to you! You can also purchase the travel system which includes the car seats too, check this one out.
3. Infant carrier seat
Along with the strollers, you are going to need two infant carrier seats. For your stroller of course and also when you are traveling by car, you need car seats. Keep your baby safe and secure, I had these ones.
4. Diaper bag
Having a trusted diaper bag when you are caring for twins is a must have. You need a large diaper bag that will fit double the amount of baby items, like diapers, wipes, toys, bottles and more! I was so happy with my diaper bag that I received as a baby-shower gift and used it all of the time. I didn’t have 2 or 3 extra diaper bags, I only had one because I didn’t any other. I received a similar bag like this one, and everything fit. I was able to carry a lot of stuff in it and it was comfortable to travel with.
You may also want this diaper bag backpack which has become very popular this last couple of years.
5. Baby bouncer
Baby bouncers to the twin rescue! Oh man, did I love having a baby bouncer for my twins. I didn’t have a baby swing because I didn’t need it, I had these bouncers that were perfect for both babies and me. What I loved about the baby bouncer is that you can “travel” around the house with them. If you’re cooking, you can take your twins with you and have them look at you. If you’re folding the laundry in your room, pick up your twins and set them up right next to you. Baby bouncers do not take up a lot of space and some even come with a vibration feature, to calmly sleep your baby. This one is a cute one and similar to the one I bought for my twins. Remember to purchase two 😉
6. High chair
Baby high chair is a must have baby item for moms. I loved having it with all three of my children because it was very helpful to me. Once my kids were able to sit up straight, I sat them down in their high chair. I fed them there and they also played in it. I introduced their first food there and It was amazing. Having a high chair helps your baby sit still to eat. If their watching television, have them sit down on their high chair and give them baby snacks, they are going to love it! I had two of this amazing high chair that I received as a baby shower gift for my twins. But, if you’re looking for a less expensive one, I suggest this one.
P.S: My sister now uses these high chairs for her daycare kids. So they are super durable and comfortable for your baby to sit on and for you to feed them on.
7. Boppy pillow
Boppy pillows are great for you to breastfeed or bottle feed your twins on and it’s also great for your babies to lounge on. I had two of these and my twins loved “hanging” out on it, watch t.v or look at their big sister play. You can also purchase the Twin Z pillow which I wished I had known about when I gave birth to my twins (5 years ago). Having a boppy pillow definitely helped me survive the first year with twins!
8. Activity learning center
I didn’t have an activity learning center with my first born. But, I did receive two different activity learning centers for my twins and I couldn’t be happier. Even though this is not a necessity, you are going to love it and realize how helpful it is for your to survive the first year with twins. I would put my twins in it and they would play with it for a long time. I honestly loved looking at them have so much fun, oh! and my first born who was 4 years old at the time, also loved playing with it (she never got inside of it). I had this one and this one!
9. Baby bottles
Of course you need baby bottles to survive any newborn stage. This excludes if your exclusively breastfeeding your babies. I bottle fed my twins and I really loved the Playtex brand. It helped reduce baby colic and my twins never had a problem with it. Which was a good thing!
10. Baby toysÂ
You really can’t survive the first year with twins or any baby at that, without having toys for them to play with. I loved buying toys for all three of my children that helped them with their development. Whether it was cognitive, visual or with their motor skills. These were a few of my favorites 🙂
