Are you struggling to keep your house clean after baby? This helpful list is going to show you exactly how to clean your house with a newborn, the easy way!

If you just had a baby, the last thing on your mind is the thought of cleaning your home. I totally get it mama! You’re tired, exhausted, overwhelmed and you’re also recovering from childbirth. But, at some point you’re going to want to start cleaning and getting back into the groove of things. Taking care of a newborn is hard and takes most of your time. That’s why I’m sharing with you these super helpful tips on how to have a clean house with a newborn. The easy way 🙂

First and foremost, it’s totally okay to not do anything the first week after welcoming your newborn. But, I know the itch of having a clean home for you, your baby and family will creep in. I want you to know that it’s totally doable to have a clean house and do household chores with a newborn. You just have to find smart little ways to achieve this.

Having an Organized and clean home was not my strongest point in life. But I learned that having a clean home makes me happy and I’m at ease. Also, just because you’re a new mom or a busy mom, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the wonders of having a clean house. I’m just saying!

how to have a clean house with a newborn

1.Have a cleaning buddy

In the first week or so, I give you permission to not do anything around the house, other than to take care of your newborn baby and yourself. So, if you have friends or family members come over, kindly ask them to help you clean your home.

Also, Your partner can definitely take part in this. Maybe wash the dirty dishes or do the laundry. It does not have to be a deep cleaning event here, just a surface clean will do for the first week or so.

2.Do not baby wear

The only time I used a baby sling carrier or baby wrap, was when I used to run errands outside of my home. Inside of the house though? I never used one. I just couldn’t do anything if I was carrying my baby all of the time. You’ll be more comfortable cleaning, you can get into the really hard spots in your house that needs some loving. Also, you can clean faster if you don’t baby wear inside the house, or at least while you’re cleaning 🙂

3.Use a Baby bouncer or swing

Do you know what helped me clean my house while still taking care of my newborn babies? Putting them on a baby bouncer or swing! After I fed them, burped them, changed their diapers and they were content, I placed them in a baby bouncer or baby swing It was magical!

You can clean, cook and even take a shower. Take them with you wherever you go. It’s easier with a baby bouncer though because it’s smaller than a baby swing. But, I’m telling you, it’s amazing!

4.Nap time

There are a lot of things to be known about newborns and one of them is that they sleep a lot. Well, they take a lot of naps, let me just be clear on that one. This is perfect for you to take advantage of and clean your behind away! This is the time you can take to deep clean the bathrooms or de-clutter your kitchen drawers.

5.Time blocking

One smart way to clean your house with a newborn is to time block yourself. I love doing this! It’s going to help you be more productive and intentional with your cleaning. You can time block for 15, 20 or even 30 minutes at a time. Clean your heart out during that time and you’re done!

Don’t even know where to start when it comes to cleaning your home? After all you just had a baby! What if I tell you that you can finally create a system that works for you! No more cluttered home, no more disorganization and no more not knowing where stuff is around the house!

The Organized Home is a simple and straight to the point course, where You are going to learn how to clean your home! Finally know where stuff is and be prepared for uninvited visitors and be at peace in your own home!

6.Nighttime cleaning

This may or may not sound like a crazy suggestion. But night time cleaning can be a great option for you because sometimes you’re not going to want to clean during the day. During your baby’s nap time, you probably also want to take a nap and rest. Which is totally fine by me! So why not leave it for after your baby has fallen asleep at night. You won’t have any interruptions and you’ll clean faster and more effectively.

7.Concentrate in one room

Well mama, I never said that you have to clean like a crazy mad woman everyday. No girl! Choose your days and choose the room of the house that you want to concentrate on for that day. It’s easy really and you won’t be feeling drained by the end of the day.

You can even have a laundry day routine, you’ll want to have one, trust me. Concentrating in one room will help you feel less stressed. You can focus on multiple rooms in one day if you want and have a time block for each room.

When we had our second baby I finally realized that it was the time to help my wife with housework. Before that, I was the one working and thought that it’s okay to do so, and it’s okay that my wife works at home but when my wife was in a hospital I had to take care of our two-year-old for about 2 weeks. It was hard. I wish I knew that before because then I would have definitely helped more.
