What are the morning sickness symptoms?
The symptoms of morning sickness are feeling nauseous which can and in many causes follows by vomiting. You can experience only nauseous (like me!) or a mixture of both or you even have severe morning sickness. Which is also known as Hyperemesis gravidarum.
What should you eat to reduce your symptoms?
There are food that can definitely help you cure morning sickness. Or at least alleviate the symptoms. Bland food like bread and crackers help, also apple sauce and dry cereal can do the trick. Banana, watermelon, apples can also reduce the nausea feeling.
You want to stay away from sugary food and also spicy food. Greasy and fatty food can also worsen your morning sickness feeling. You might want to stay away from it, at least during the first trimester or until you start feeling better again.

1.Crackers
Salted or unsalted crackers are the best thing in the world. I had boxes of it because it would just alleviate the nausea feeling that I had. I used to eat crackers during my first trimester of my first pregnancy just because I thought it would prevent me from vomiting, it did work.
Saltine crackers are high in starch which helps absorb gastric acid and are perfect to help ease morning sickness, yay!
2. Ginger ale with lime
Ginger ale soda is the first thing that I grab if I have a stomach ache. I recommend giving ginger ale soda a try to help combat your morning sickness. It really does work. Try adding lime juice in it and it will rock your world, your nausea should disappear or at least reduce it because it did for me!

3. Stay hydrated
Even though just thinking about drinking more than 6 glasses of water a day may seem like an impossible task. You have to make sure you are taking enough fluids in. Dehydration can increase and aggravate the feeling of nausea.
Staying hydrated during your pregnancy is super important. You can try adding fruits to your water to add flavor to it.

4. Avoid being too full or too hungry
When you are pregnant is always best to eat small meals during the day than big meals that will leave you feeling full. Being too full during pregnancy leaves you feeling tired, sleepy, and even feeling nauseated. Morning sickness can be triggered by eating larger meals and becoming full to the point where you can’t even move.
Break down your snacks and meals through out the day, eat small quantities and you will feel more energetic. Doing this will eliminate or alleviate the heartburn and morning sickness feeling.

5. Lay down and Rest
Now you might be scratching your head on this one like say what!? But just hear me out, for some reason when I was experiencing morning sickness during my second pregnancy, I would lay down and it would make me feel so much better. The nausea feeling would slowly fade away and it also gave my body an opportunity to relax.
Try laying down after you have a drink of your ginger ale soda and have eaten some crackers. I will guarantee you that you will feel so much better so I had to add it to this list of morning sickness tips. This pregnancy body pillow is seriously comfortable and you’ll use it throughout your entire pregnancy!
6.Yogurt or milk
Drinking yogurt or milk will definitely do the job of alleviating the morning sickness. I would always wake up right after my hubby would be up to go to work (around 4:30am) and he would always bring me yogurt or milk.
It would make me feel better since I would always wake up super hungry and that in return would trigger my morning sickness. Milk and yogurt has this smooth cooling effect that goes down your throat. Also, drinking milk can help with heartburn, so I think it’s just another great morning sickness tip to try and see if it works for you!

Great tips! Where were these when I was pregnant with my kids 🙂 I always got really bad morning sickness and could always count on losing about 30 lbs because of it each pregnancy. Thanks for the great list 🙂 Have a great weekend!
These are all great tips! I didn’t have morning sickness too bad with either of my kids, but I remember that when I was in my first trimester around Valentine’s Day with my daughter and even the sight of a red velvet recipe on Pinterest would make me gag!

Thank you Chelsea! For my twin pregnancy my morning sickness lasted about a month only thank the lord! haha! But gosh it sucked. haha!! you are so funny ” the sight of a red velvet recipe on Pinterest” haha!! I think I would have felt the same way.
This is great advice for expectant mothers. When I was expecting my first child certain food smells would trigger morning sickness. For me lying down or drinking milk would really help.
Your welcome Jessica! Wow I can imagine what you went through, morning sickness is not fun at all and I only experienced it the first month of my twin pregnancy. Have a great weekend to you too 🙂
Great tips, unfortunately, I had that hellish type of morning sickness that gets labelled with the medical term hyperemesis. I would go to emerg for a bag of IV fluids at times because I was dehydrated from so much vomiting. It really puts a wrench into life, I could no longer work in the mornings, and barely got through the afternoons…Oh, the stories I have of all the places I vomited haha! One thing that did give me a tiny bit of relief was sucking on a hard candy like a mint or those preggo pops.

Yes to the crackers and soda. I never ever drink soda normally, but I do almost every day during my first trimester because it’s so helpful! Also budgeting a bit more for groceries you wouldn’t normally buy just to have a wide variety in your pantry is really helpful since almost everything sounds gross. I would beg my husband to search the back of the pantry to surprise me with something I didn’t know was in there just for the novelty 🙂
Oh man, that’s crazy! I know some women do need medication for morning sickness which sucks but is part of life. I can imagine the stories that you have lol. That’s a good one having hard candy around, I remember that would make me feel better too. Thank you Andrea 🙂
Yes to soda and crackers all day everyday, haha! That’s a good idea to stock up on different kinds of food that way you can choose and hopefully find something that will not make you sick to your stomach.

I didn’t find that anything worked for me sadly. With my first I was vomiting from 6 weeks right through to 21 weeks in the morning and after about 6pm. With baby number two this lasted until 24 weeks and with babies 3 and 4 I was sick at all times of the day and until 31 weeks. YUK ! #TwinklyTuesday
My morning sickness was horrific, I would throw up every morning, food smells made me nauseas which would make me throw up again, I lived off of rice and breadsticks for 4 months. The worst was travelling in to work on the tube during rush hour. The only thing that helped me was ice lollies and for some wierd reason orange juice! X #TwinklyTuesday

I had rotten morning sickness with both of mine – first time until 10.5 weeks and the second until about 18 weeks. I munched through tonnes of crackers, in fact I craved pretty much anything if it involved carbs and salt! Agree with not being either too hungry or too full, too 🙂 linking up from #TwinklyTuesday x
Nothing worked for me, it was just 12 weeks I had to get through, I really feel for those who have it all through a pregnancy #TwinklyTuesday
I had terrible morning sickness with my first. In the early days I was sick up to 15 times a day and whilst it did get a bit better I was still often sick at least once a week up until three weeks before I had him. I tried all of these and nothing worked for me, unfortunately. However, when you have sickness like that you’re willing to try anything so hopefully someone else will get some benefit.

So sorry you had terrible morning sickness, at least it didn’t last throughout your whole pregnancy right?? Crackers were my best friend for the whole month of my morning sickness.
