1.Redirect your focus
Just like what we do with our children when they are having a tantrum, is to redirect their focus. We also need to redirect our focus when we feel anxiety is creeping in. I feel it every time and I tell myself “I can’t let this control me”. So I start thinking about positive or funny things. I go play with my kids or call my sisters.
You must redirect your focus. Stop and do something that is going to eliminate your anxiety thoughts. You cannot let this control your MIND. Immediately change your focus into something that will provide ease in your heart and mind.

2.Write on a journal
Writing on a journal to overcome anxiety is actually very therapeutic. Here you are drowning in negative, scary thoughts that you think you can’t control. You are not as happy as you would want to be for your kids and spouse because anxiety have taken that from you. Writing on a journal will help you remove all of your fears into one piece of paper.
Write it down, release all of your thoughts and set yourself free from that. Write the things that gives you anxiety the most and then next to it write how you are going to overcome it.

3.Keep yourself busy
When my anxiety would get to a level 10, I would just get up from wherever I was and start doing something. I would sometimes pick up one of my newborn twins from their crib while they were sleeping, just so I can hold them. It gave me security and peace.
I would play with my older child as well. Just do something that will keep your anxiety away. When you are busy doing something, you have less time to welcome anxiety into your life.

4.Pray and have faith
Praying and having faith goes hand in hand. Prayers have the power to move mountains. This is no exception. Ask God to help you overcome anxiety, tell God that you no longer want to take medication for it. That you believe in his power to set your anxiety free. Believe and believe mama. Have faith that this shall pass or at least get better. Things will get better.
5.Talk with someone
Do not battle this alone, you can’t and you will not. I am not going to allow you to keep this inside, to drown with anxiety. Because your family needs you. Talk to someone who understands you. With family and friends who are going to be there for you. Who are going to lift you up and help you somehow and some way get rid of your anxiety.
Never suffer in silence.

6.Look at the positive
Another tip to overcome anxiety is to look at the positives instead of thinking about everything that went wrong in your day. Having positive thoughts will keep anxiety away. I have a grateful journal where every day I write what I am grateful for the day before. It helps me stay positive and grateful. Because even though you have had a bad day, you can always think of at least one thing that went great on that day.
I hope you find these tips to overcome anxiety helpful and useful. Remember that you are not alone.
