1.Not taking care of your body

One of the mistakes new moms make is not eating at all or not eating a healthy balance of fruits and vegetables, healthy fats and more. Taking care of your body is super important in the healing process after child birth.

Eating food rich in fiber and protein is recommended. Drinking a lot of water and staying hydrated helps with the recovery as well. Exercising and maintaining a good weight, not only makes you feel good, but it will also help you release any new mom stress that you may have.

2. Letting go of yourself

Why do so many moms let go of themselves after having a baby? Umm, including me! You are not alone mama. But, I did learn that it was not the way. You can’t blame your new mom life for things you can’t or do not want to do. You must stay productive, exercise, put makeup on, find a side hustle.

Letting go of yourself will only make you feel less than. It will make you feel like you lost a part of you. Letting go of yourself will only increase your anxiety and depression. So, mama as a friend I’m telling you to get up and show up.

3. Feeling guilty

This is a feeling that many moms if not all moms deal with. Feeling guilty for a lot of things. For example, you may feel guilty you are going back to work and will leave baby with a babysitter or daycare provider. You may also feel guilty for going out on a date with your spouse and leaving baby home with a loved one.

There are so many different things a new mom feels guilty about. That in most cases she has no control of. So, mama, if you need to go back to work do not feel guilty about it. Instead find ways to not miss those baby milestones.

4. Doubting your mom ability

As a new mom, you feel scared and anxious about taking care of your new baby. More, if you have never even held one before. It’s okay mama, you are not alone. One thing is true, you are doing a great job so far. Yes, it may feel like you don’t know what you’re doing. But, give yourself more credit and grace. Your baby is fed, you changed your baby’s diaper, your baby is happy and thriving.

That alone makes you a great mom. So what, if your baby still haven’t got the hang of sleeping through the night. It will take some time, but you will get there. So what, if you stopped breastfeeding. You are still feeding your baby formula. I want you to know that you are doing a heck of a good job as a new mom. Don’t ever doubt yourself.

Help baby sleep without being held

Here’s an awesome ebook that is a life changer and very helpful for moms who want to teach their baby to sleep on their own. No more feeling trapped or not being productive. Help your baby sleep on his own and sleep longer through the night!

5. No time for selfcare

Do you think you’re too busy for self care? or feel guilty about even having time for yourself without your baby? This mama is not a healthy way to live. As much as I know that you love your baby, you also need to love yourself. You need to understand that your mental, physical and emotional health matters too.

Selfcare does not have to be something unattainable. Because it’s very much attainable, within reach actually. Selfcare can be done right from the comfort of your home. Just make sure you do find time for it.

First time mom guide:

In my first time mom guide ebook I go more in detail of self care ideas for new moms. I also teach you how to manage your time, balance work and raising a baby so you don’t miss any more milestones and I share with you my secrets to having your baby sleep through the night! Check out the new mom guide here!

6. Not asking for help

It is not a crime or make you less of a mother if you ask for help mama. Actually it is very much encouraged because in reality, you need all of the help that you can get. Specially in the first couple of months after birth. This is something new, you are probably full of questions, scared to take your baby a bath because the umbilical cord has not fallen yet. I mean, I was too!

Ask for help and also accept help. You are doing yourself a favor and you will not regret it. Let others cook for you or clean your home. Let them feed baby (if bottle feeding) while you take a bath. Having extra helping hands is a good thing and it helps you transition to this new life as a mother more easily.

So, stop the worries, the guilt, the feeling that you are not a good mom. And, enjoy your new mom life. You are doing amazing and honestly this stage goes by so fast. Hug and smell your baby, savor these precious moments.
