1.Everyday is different. Everyday is a new beginning

I love that every new day is a new beginning for you to have a better day. If yesterday was tough, today do things to make it easier. Do not give yourself too many tasks. Sleep and take a nap if you have to. Try to breathe and let it out. It’s all about making things easier for you. Accept help mama.

Do you love reading books about motherhood? Check out the first time mom guide. It teaches you how to rock life with a newborn. Sleep more, execute the right routine for baby, balance life and career, self care tips and more. Read it here!

2.You are doing what you were meant to do

You are a mom! You were meant for this, you prayed for it and you planned for it. So, when things get tough, when you feel drained, tired, mad, sad, angry. Remember the first day when you found out you were pregnant. When you gave birth to your baby and saw him or her for the first time. Amazing right? You were meant to be a mother.

3. You are learning how to parent each day

Do not be so hard on yourself. Being a mother does not come with a manual, believe me I have three kids and I’m still learning. Being a parent is a learning experience. Know that each day you’re learning something new, you are creating new routines and schedules for you and your baby. Do not be so hard on yourself.

Learning how to teach your baby to self soothe is a great idea. Your baby will learn to sleep on his own without being held. More time for you to do other important things around the house. Start sleeping baby without being held here!

4. Do not listen to negative people

Negativity has to go. I mean out of your life pronto. It is for your own mental health, emotional health and well being. You just had a baby, you are going through a lot. The last thing you need is someone telling you that you’re doing everything wrong. That she did this with her baby, that her baby is perfect, blah blah. Listen to your heart, you are doing just fine.

5. Being a mom is tough but so are you

Yes, I know being a new mom is tough, but mama so are you! Didn’t you just birth a baby? Didn’t you just go through the postpartum period? Recovering from childbirth is no joke. You see, you are a tough mama. Life with a newborn baby takes a lot of patience and planning, routine. But you will thrive at it. You just need time.

6. You were meant to be a mother

Ever think, “why did I get pregnant?” ” this is so hard” ” I feel like I can’t do this” “why are some moms so happy and I’m not?”. These feelings are normal to have specially when you’re have a tough mom day. When you feel life with a newborn is making you feel less happy than being happy. But, you were meant to be a mother. You are cut out to be a mom. Life gets hard, but that does not mean you can’t do this or find joy in motherhood. Because you can and you will.

7. It gets better with time

Encouraging words for new moms is very much needed. You need to hear them and feel them. It gets better with time is the truth. Right now may not be a good phase for you because you are still trying to successfully breastfeed, you are still trying to come up with a good sleeping routine for your baby. But, with time you will find your mom grove and will rock it!

8. You are not a bad mother

I don’t know why so many moms feel that they are bad moms. Just because your baby still doesn’t sleep through the night doesn’t mean you’re a bad mom. If you didn’t breastfeed, you are not a bad mom. I mean, you are not a bad mother! Do not let anyone tell you that you are! Motherhood comes with a lot of surprises, sometimes what you think you’re going to do, doesn’t happen. You always have to be prepared for the what if’s. You are still a good mother.

9. You create your own happiness

You and only you can create your own happiness. Not your friend, spouse or sister. If motherhood is kicking you in the butt, then find a different way that works better. The way you handle things will make or break your day. Taking care of a baby is already demanding enough, you barely have time for yourself and stressing over little things is not going to help. Create your happiness. Do more of what makes you smile, hang out with people that bring the best of you.

Some journals and books you might love:

10. Your feelings, your thoughts, your fears are all valid

Right now you are most likely feeling all types of emotions. It’s not easy to one day have no child. Then the other you’re taking care of your little one. People do not realize that it’s a drastic change. Now you barely sleep, all you feel like you’re doing is change diaper, feed, sleep baby. You probably do not have anytime for yourself. So, your feelings, your thoughts, your fears are valid! This is your life and know that it will get better.

11. Be proud of the mama you are becoming

With everything going on in your new mom life, just take a moment and pat yourself on the back. You are doing it mama. You birthed a baby, you recovered from childbirth and you’re taking it a day at a time. Do not forget to actually enjoy the moment, hug your baby tight, kiss your baby and just stare at him or her. It’s magical and beautiful!

Do not forget about your spouse either. It’s crucial that you nurture your relationship too. And of course, be proud of the mom and women you are becoming.

Being a new mom is not easy and not everyone wants to talk about the raw “behind the scenes”. But you only know about postpartum blues, sleep deprivation and everything else once you become a mama.

So take a deep breath, read these encouraging words for new moms as much as possible. And you got this mama!
