gross and weird pregnancy symptoms nobody talks about. First pregnancy tips. Pregnancy tips. What happens during your pregnancy. Weird pregnancy symptoms. Rare pregnancy symptoms.

There are a lot of weird pregnancy symptoms that will totally shock you because nobody likes to talk about them. I was shocked at some of the pregnancy symptoms that I experienced with both of my pregnancies. Yes I experienced the “normal” ones like tender breasts, fatigue and going to the bathroom every 5 minutes. But what about the other ones? You know the gross and embarrassing pregnancy symptoms that everyone is afraid to share or talk about.

Being pregnant is definitely an incredible and amazing time in a woman’s life. I loved being pregnant and I have to admit that I sometimes miss being pregnant. Am I crazy? (maybe). That being said, being pregnant can also make you realize that crazy and gross things can happen to your body. You are soon going to find out that your body will go through a lot of changes and most of them are due to an increase level of hormones. Thanks a lot hormones!

I’m going to share with you the 18 weird pregnancy symptoms that will totally shock you. So you can be aware and prepared that some of these may happen to you. I’m giving you a fair warning girl! It all depends on your body and how it deals with all of the extra hormones. Some pregnant women may experience all of these symptoms, some may experience some of it and then some lucky ones may not experience any of them. Lovely!

1.Nose bleeds

Having nose bleeds during your pregnancy is actually very common. This is because you now have an increase blood volume that can easily put pressure on the blood vessels of your nose. There for causing you to have frequent nosebleeds. Oh the wonders of being pregnant!

2.Bleeding gums

Your gums may bleed during your pregnancy and it can be disgusting, specially if you’re in your first trimester and everything makes you want to gag. This is due to hormonal changes in your pregnancy which can cause your gums to swell and be tender. Be careful when brushing your teeth and know that this shall pass after your first trimester.

3. Leaking breasts

Did you know that not only your breasts get tender and can hurt while being pregnant, but your breast can also leak! I personally did not experience this symptom, but some of my family members did. I was totally shocked and kinda grossed out about it because I thought breasts leakage only happened after giving birth, but of course this is normal and some women may indeed experience their breasts leaking.

Headaches are more common during the first trimester because of all of the changes your body is going through. An increase in hormone levels and blood volume can cause you to have more frequent headaches.

7. Restless leg syndrome

11. Dry and sour mouth

Many women experience dry mouth during their pregnancy. According to Thebump.com the reason behind this is that “the body stores more water to help supply an increasing blood volume”. It can cause dehydration and thirst as well.

Another weird and unexpected pregnancy symptom is experiencing a sour mouth. You may experience a change in your sense of taste which can cause you to have a metallic taste in your mouth.

12. Larger feet, nose and hands

With my first pregnancy both of my hands and feet grew a size. I was not expecting this at all but it happened. Many women also experience their nose getting bigger, which I experienced too. This is due to an increase level of estrogen.

13. PICA disorder

I have heard about this disorder before and found it very interesting and of course weird. There are pregnant women who crave the smell or taste of non edibles items like gasoline, chalk and more weird things.

According to Americanpregnancy.org “some speculate that pica cravings are the body’s attempt to obtain vitamins or minerals that are missing through normal food”. Very interesting isn’t?

14. Hormones taking over

Your hormones may take over your entire pregnancy. You will find yourself crying for no apparent reason, getting irritated at your partner for any little thing and just being moody altogether. This is pregnancy for you and of course the fact that your body is going through so many changes. Feeling stressed, tired and overwhelmed are also reasons for your mood swings.

15. Easily out of breath

You may notice that talking can easily make you feel out of breath. Along with your growing baby comes your growing uterus, which may cause it to push upward on your lungs therefor making you will feel out of breath, from walking, talking, doing chores and even eating! I totally suffered from shortness of breath during my pregnancy, specially in my third trimester.

16. Increase sex drive

Well hello there hormones! I have to say that the increase level of hormones can make your sex drive go through the roof. I’m sure your partner is one happy person right now. Enjoy it mama 😉

17. Melasma

Many women experience melasma during their pregnancy, including myself. This was unexpected for me because I didn’t know what it was until I had it. Melasma is basically dark patches on your skin. You can get it on your neck (like me), under arms and even belly!

18. Thicker hair and nails

Pregnancy can also have it’s perks like having thicker shinier hair and nails. How awesome is that? This is due to higher levels of estrogen which prolongs the growth of your hair. That’s what I’m talking about!

Which of these pregnancy symptoms shocked you the most? Which ones have you experienced?
