
How to stop mommy burnout? This question hits home for me. I feel every mom has felt burnout at least once in their motherhood journey. So many moms are even feeling burned out every single day! It’s hard to be a mom, those kids really get to us. ha!
Feeling burnt out as a mom is terrible and the reason why moms feel mommy burnout is because they are STRESSED and OVERWHELMED. To the point where they can’t function. I felt this way one point of my life and then I took action. There was one day that I was so burnt out that I almost fainted. And that was the day that I’ve decided to listen to my body and myself and start taking care of myself.
I want you to avoid mommy burnout right now mama. It is not serving you in a positive way. It is not serving your kids or partner in any way. If you want to be a better and happier mom, then overcoming mommy burnout will change your life, like it did to mine.
Why am I so burnt out as a mom:
You have too much on your plate. The thought of “I have to be perfect” can also cause you to feel burnout because you’re trying to do something that’s impossible. Not taking a break can also make you feel burnt out.

15 simple tips to stop mommy burnout immediately
1.Take a break
Ever heard the word “break?” I know this is a very unfamiliar word for so many moms. Because the truth is, we hardly ever take a break. You feel like you have to do it all and then you feel guilty about it. You feel that you need to be perfect because you’re afraid about what others might think of you. STOP and take a break! You need a break to relax and breathe and to be in a better mindset. Taking a break is good so do not ever feel bad about it.

Do you think you have to do everything yourself? or in one day? Because you feel that if you don’t you’re a bad mom or partner? Do you know what you’re doing? Putting unwanted pressure on yourself to be perfect. What if you don’t need to do it all? Can you hire help? ask for help? Can you leave some chores for next week? the answer is YES YES and YES! That’s it!

3. Know your triggers
Understanding what is causing you to feel mommy burnout is crucial in avoiding mom burnout in the future. This is where self awareness comes in as a mom. You can start by writing down your mood and feelings throughout the day and noticing what you are doing or not doing. Are your kids making you feel burnt out? Is it the thought of making dinner? Or is it the mountain of laundry that you still have to fold? Once you know what are your mommy burnout triggers, you are able to take positive action towards eliminating them.
4.Practice gratitude
Another way to stop the mommy burnout is to practice gratitude. When you take 5 minutes out of your life to reflect and practice gratitude it will change your life. You are now focusing on the positive, giving thanks for the good things in your life or positive things that happened to you. You are saying “even though I’m burned out, I am so grateful”. How does that feel?

7.Listen to your body
Your body is very powerful and you have to take care of it and also listen to it. It gives you signals when it’s distress or hurt right? When you’re feeling burnout your body is going to tell you! How? You may notice you’re getting constant headaches, body aches, feeling fatigue, are in a bad mood and feel like sleeping all day long.You have top pay attention to your body. Because the minute that you do, you’ll start taking care of it and you’ll be able to eliminate and stop the mommy burnout.
8. Have a morning or nighttime routine for yourself
I love having my own morning and nighttime routine. It really sets your day off in a positive and happier way. And at night, you are able to go to be feeling grateful and calm and good. Who doesn’t want that right? Sometimes we live life without a plan and that can make our day feel chaotic and stressful. So creating your own morning or nighttime routine will help you feel more calm, in control and happier as a mom.
For me I love to wake up earlier than my kids and partner. I get ready for the day and then read my bible, a devotional and I also journal. It’s so good! I also enjoy my breakfast and my iced coffee. 9. Journal
I love to journal because it releases the stress and negative emotions I may have. Journaling can also help you see the good in your day which in return makes you feel good about yourself. Journaling can help you avoid mommy burnout by noticing triggers, by focusing on what you’re grateful for and celebrating more of what you did get done throughout the day!
10. Ask for help
Why are so many moms so afraid to ask for help? Is it the fear of judgement? The feeling of you should know how to do this? Is it the thought of “I’m the mom and I have to do everything myself”? It can be a mixture of all of it right? But know that the first step in how to stop feeling mommy burnout. Asking for help is safe and feels good to receive. You are not a failure or a bad mother if you start asking for help. Not at all, this will help you handle motherhood better and get rid off the load of motherhood that you;’re carrying on your own.
11. Live a more simple life
How many of us don’t live a simple life? *me*! It’s like we have so much to do that we are afraid to take a break, smell the flowers and enjoy your day. Living a more simple life can help you overcome mommy burnout because you are not going to feel stressed or overwhelmed. So, you can start by decluttering your home, being prepared for your day the night before, do not add 100 things on your to do list and instead focus on 3 things that you want to get done. Leave time to take a break for yourself and be intentional with your time with your kids and partner.
12. Learn to say no
Learning to say no to things that you do not want to do, feels damn good. This is a positive step in ditching the people pleasing habit and learning to speak up more about your needs. Setting boundaries with yourself and others is part of self care and self love. So, saying no when you need to will help you stop feeling mommy burnout and stress.
13. Delegate tasks
One excellent way to start removing the load on your shoulders and help you eliminate the stress and overwhelmed as a mom is to start giving your older kids more things to do around the house to help you. Give them simple tasks that they can do like cleaning their rooms, washing the dishes, picking up their toys after playing etc. You see? Already getting rid of stuff you don’t have to do. You can also ask your partner to help you out more around the house and be specific with what you want him to help you with.
14. Celebrate yourself
Mama, I want you to start celebrating the amazing mother that you are! Because you are! When you celebrate yourself you start seeing yourself in a new positive perspective. You start to notice more good things about yourself than bad. Celebrating yourself will make you feel good and proud of the things that you’re doing right. You become more positive, happy and loving person to yourself, your partner and kids.
15. Rediscover yourself again
One reason why mommy burnout is real and here to stay in your life is because you are not taking care of yourself and needs. You have lost yourself in motherhood and are living a stressful day to day motherhood life. Start rediscovering yourself again, do things that makes you happy and also makes you feel like you’re more than just a mom. Start your dream business, start a new fun hobby, go more on date-nights, do something that you never thought you would do, start a blog. Rediscovering yourself is about tapping in to your inner self and welcoming the real you back into your life.
